What we know about the journey of the ledger

There is a question that some are asking. What path did the ledger take to get from this little town in Maine to Yale? Do you have any information that will solve or help solve this mystery? Answer:

I'm a latecomer to the history of the ledger, but can tell you that it traveled to the other side of the country, before it came back to the east coast. I'm a graduate of the Yale law school, and a significant part of my legal work involved reading and interpreting old documents. I've loved history, law and language forever, it seems, and over the years collected what I could of legal writing. Less than two years ago I saw an eBay listing for a "massive ledger" involving law, bid on it, and bought it. It wasn't until it arrived and I could look it over, that I realized how special it actually was. The seller's return address was in California. I contacted him (or her) through eBay, and asked a question similar to yours: How did a New England ledger end up in California? The California seller told me he'd bought it from someone who moved there from New England, and said that he'd bought the ledger at an estate sale in New England, some time before he moved. That's all I know, and the eBay seller said he didn't know any more than that. If you're interested in following up, could see if I still have the eBay seller's contact information.
