Travelled from home to Col. Staples in Swanville

Mon, June 4
Met at William Dunham's in Monroe and heard parties on petition of Daniel Billings. D.
Billings for Petitioners. W. P. Vinal for opposition on discontinuance by Boden Hill.
Prayer not granted. No opposition to the petition to set up Monuments. Prayer granted.

Tue, June 5
Erected Monuments from the corner near William Dunham's house to the top of the
Richie Hill in Frankfort.

Wed, June 6
Met at Hamlin Dickey's on petition of Jacob C. Knowles and viewed the route set forth
in additional petitions. Also viewed route on petition of Elisha Ellis & als.

Thu, June 7
Heard parties on petition of Knowles and Dickey & unanimously agreed that a road ought
to be located through the valley from Page's corner to Crosby's hill. Also reviewed the
routes and decided to locate on petition of Elisha Ellis & als. Col. Staples dissenting.

Met on petition of Hiram Webber. Viewed, heard parties and decided in favor of the
petitioner. W.P. Vinal for petitioner. D. Billings & R. Ford for town. P.M. Commenced

Met at K. Chase tavern in Brooks. Viewed route - heard parties. Allen Davis for
petitioners. No opposition. Located then travelled home where I arrived at 11 P.M.

location from Poland's to Brazier's & decided we would not make any alteration if

house to Job Ingraham's.

& Robbins hills the same as previous alteration.

Met at American House Belfast and viewed route on petition of William Rust Agent of
Belfast. Staid over night at Ordway's.

Bruised my shin on Col. Payson's door-stone. Travelled to Samuel Pearson's in
Searsport and viewed route from thence to Nehemiah Smarts. P.M. kept house. Very
lame.

Located on petition of Sears Nickerson & als. from N Smarts' to Samuel Pearson's.
Went to Col. Staples.

Thu, Sept 13
Travelled from Col. Staples to Hall Clements. Made alteration by Brooks South Pond
thence travelled home.

Fri, Sept 14
Fixed woodhouse door then carried two dozen pairs boots to William O. Fuller. And ½
doz. Pairs to Murry & exchanged for sole leather. Took dinner at Murry's in company
with Simon Barrett & wife.

Sat, Sept 15
At home. Dug a few Chenango Potatoes which were really all rotten. Led calf from
Capt. Boardman's & did various things too numerous to mention.

Went to Camden. Bought 1500 bricks @ $4.50. Called at Handley's & engaged him to
build a chimney.

Tue, Sept 18
Went to Mathew's kiln. Bought 2 casks lime & got a load of sand. Hauled by Herrick
Bartlett.

Wed, Sept 19
Washington and myself tore out the old buttery & cut a hole through the floor. Made
mortar and got all ready for Handley to begin the chimney tomorrow.

Thu, Sept 20
Handley came this morning & commenced the chimney. Built the foundation and laid
some bricks.

Fri, Sept 21
Got the chimney to the top of the house.

Sat, Sept 22
Finished the chimney & laid the hearth calk around the chimney & cleaned away the
rubbish.

Rained here all day & last night.

Mon, Sept 24
Left home at 5 A.M. Travelled to Peter Moulton's in Jackson. Arrived at 11 A.M. Took
dinner then viewed route from thence to Eben Littlefield's in Brooks. Stayed over night.

Tue, Sept 25
Met at the school house near Stimson's in Brooks. Heard parties on Petition of Peter
Moulton & als and decided to alter by the hill in Jackson North of Works. Agreed with
Moulton to make the alteration. Travelled to Eben Littlefield's and spent the night.

Wed, Sept 26
Went to Belfast. Took dinner with Mac. Bought a fire frame at $6. & arrived home at 5
P.M.

Thu, Sept 27
Gathered my pippins & lugged them home in a bag. Slipped & hurt my side.

Fri, Sept 28
Dug my potatoes - just half of them rotten.

driven off by rain & spent the night at Allen Davis'.

Carried 1 dozen pairs boots to Weed & Arnold & sold them for $32.00. Sold W.
Philbrick 2 pairs boots $6.00. Received cash $3.00. Sold William O. Fuller 2 pairs
boots.

Travelled from Col. Staples to Belfast in a severe rain storm - rained all day. Counted
votes for Register of Deeds. Robert White elected by a large majority.

Travelled to M. S. Stiles in Jackson where I arrived ½ past 9 P.M. Saturday June 1st
travelled to Silas Wentworth's in Waldo & located an alteration on the Pitman road.

Mon, June 3
Went from Stiles to R. Sargent's & viewed the Cornelius White road on which we had no
action as Frankfort had not been notified. Then viewed by the Boden hill and spent the
night at R. Sargent's. Stiles bought a breechy cow of the gen. for $15.00.

Viewed by the Patter hill in Monroe. Travelled to Brooks village & viewed alteration in
Brooks & spent the night at Stiles'.

Wed, June 5
Viewed route by the Elliot Hills in Knox. Took dinner at Charles. Elliot's. P.M. heard
parties at the Sawyer saw mills - deferred decision to a future time excepting the Boden
Hills which we decided to discontinue then travelled home.

House - to tea at Mr. Codmans & ate. Returned to my house & spent the night.

day.

Tue, June 18
Rode with Snow over the cross road leading to Columbus Davis's - then viewed as far as
the cross road leading to Lewis Davis in the forenoon & took dinner at Stiles. P.M.
viewed to Ellis'& spent the night at Samuel G. Ellis'. Hot day.

Wed, June 19
Viewed route to Z. Kendall's in Waldo & back to Ford Gay's & dined. P.M. travelled to
Dea. Page's & took tea - then went to Stiles' & spent the night. Very hot day.

Thu, June 20
Met at the Meeting House at Brooks & heard parties on petition of Samuel G. Ellis &
others till sunset. Spent the night at Stiles'. Very warm day.

Fri, June 21
Travelled home where I arrived at 2 o'clock P.M.& learned that John S. Chitman left
home June 10th for Boston & had not been heard from since.

storm in Belfast.

Staid at home - a thunder shower.

Went to Moses Bradstreet's in Palermo on petition of M Bradstreet & als. - viewed route
- spent the night at Samuel Bartlett's.

Frost on low ground this morning. Heard parties on the above petition & decided to
locate from Samuel Turners to Fossett's store near Upham's tavern in Liberty - came
home.

Made mortar & prepared to plaster.

Thu, June 19
S. Hawes commenced plastering. P.M. went to Belfast to oversee the building the jail.
Received of County Treasurer for J. Fogler $7.11. Paid balance of County tax $6.67.

Staid in Belfast - paid $2 to Republican Journal for William Light to Dec 24th 1852.

A Good hay day after 10 o'clock - made & hauled 3 loads hay.

Say, July 19This day I may as well call lost time if a person can lose time. After poling
in 4 loads of hay from the yard below the house & pitching up the scatterings - I rested.
It rained a little in the morning after giving people time to haul their hay that was made.
P.M. it was fair till near night when fog came in. Rained in the night with thunder &
lightning.
