Frances Carolyn Thomas (Grassow) was born in the year 1900 in New york City. She lived in Harlem, which was the German section of town at the time. Frances moved to Hope Maine in 1904 with her Aunt Anna and Uncle Henry. Her father and mother awaited the arrival of their second child in New York.
